TFLN Poem - Games, Gumption

Hey.

Here's this week's www.textsfromlastnight.com poem.

Let’s go get coffee and handcuffs.

Let’s buy some playing cards
Fold then in half, cut them
Accordion style, and open the
Slivered skeleton over our outstretched bodies.

Let’s open up a phone book,
(Remember the phone book?)
Pick a name, call it,
And hold a conversation,
(Remember conversations?)
Ask them about forgotten scraps of desire,
Or manicured jealousies,
Or homemade recipes.

Let’s close our eyes,
Wick away our clothes, and meet each other
Toe to toe. Breathing in the shadows.
Pimpled flesh, whorls of lush imperfection.
Let us take our time.  Let us memorialize these
Gifts, these shaking vessels, without the artifice of
Sound, the patina of sarcasm.   Let us press, still blind,
Still eager, into one another, listen and welcome.

Let us be the soft and blended instruments of love.
